Congrats! Those rods are a nice investment ! When you have a big trout on, you'll see how nice they are. ;)

bought a new rod last week before I headed out. Its a the ugly stick ultra light man that thing is a blast to catch lakers on!! I like the feel of a lighter rod just makes it that much more fun if i catch a dinkie one!!
I will miss my wife this winter, I'll see her in the spring!

thanks for the imput. I have been using a 36 " diawa triforce for several years but don't like how the eyelets ice up so quick, the diawa is a decent rod with a good combo of heft and sensitivity. just was looking to up my game with the thorne bros product. I should get it next week as they are building it and said it would be two weeks

I have the rod. It does lack a little backbone, but I like that it absorbs all the head shakes while bringing up a big laker. I personally like the rod, but I usually fish with smaller jigs then most. (1/2 oz. to 3/4 oz.) The backbone may be a little bit of an issue in deep water with hook sets, but the use of braid will compensate for that if fishing deeper then 40 feet.
