Oldham Pond
« on: Jan 24, 2015, 06:57 PM »
Went to the back end of oldham today to see if we could get one of the big calico swimming there.   Final catch was 4 pickerel , 9 small to medium perch, and one 1lb 7oz calico.   Finally caught the calico by drilling a dozen jig holes and hitting them with a jigging rap.

I was out there on Friday, only managed one by jigging. A couple of yellows and a pick around 2lb. Noticed the ice is breaking up by the island. This "blizzard" may do it in for the season!

Stopped by this morning for what could be the last trip of the season. Punched out a couple of old holes. A few perch and a bunch of missed strikes (jigging). After about an hour that was enough for me, pretty cold out there! No shoveling for me! ::)

I live right next to old ham on the hanson side you think there is no chance now that we'll be able to fish it again this season.

Anything is possible! How does the snow cover look, did a lot blow off? I wouldn't go out on it if there was more than a foot of snow on it. I was out there Monday and I thought there was around 4" of ice. A lot of water will come up through a hole. We are heading into Feb. it is not going to get any better! If you attempt it, be sure you are with someone!
