Powwow Kingston
« on: Jan 14, 2015, 09:40 AM »
Was hoping someone could lend me a hand on a good place to get on Powwow. I've heard there are places to watch out for because o running water. Not looking for a hot spot or anything like that just safety.

I'd be VERY careful at the public boat launch on Boston Rd...decent current coming out of the culvert. That current carries down a channel that snakes its way all the way to the "open pond" area so I'd be careful of the middle of that whole section and might recommend (though can't confirm its safe), staying close to the edges IF you decide to take a chance getting on there and not approaching the middle until you are well out in the open 1/2 or more from the causeway.

Also, there is usually some current under the railroad bridge at the other end. You MIGHT be able to walk the tracks from the nearest road to the bridge area and find some "non-private" land you can cross to get on there but I would avoid the area near the bridge.

One of the biggest problems is most of the shoreline along Boston Rd is private and well populated...you'd have to go through someones yard to get on. Many avoid the hassle and just hit Kingston Lake.

I do agree with you Kingston is very convenient and has some big fish to be had. Father got a nice 3lb SMB last winter when we fished it. Very easy off and on. Figured since Powwow was down the road and I'd try somewhere else. Since I live in Mass and don't fish NH too much I appreciate all the info and opinions they help out.
