Some small ponds may have safe ice this wknd. I doubt if the larger bodies will be safe.  ;)

Friday will have the winds cranking up to 50+ mph in spots on the cape.  Only upper 40's off cape.  Think I'll pass on chasing wind flags.  but hope to get out Sat/Sun. Even if I have to drive a bit.

i was on safe ice earlier today!!, it was a small pond. by sunday a few more spots i checked should be good. get out and check. its here

You won't have wind flags with your traps. LOL I have had them blow out of the hole on Champlain and the flag still not tripped. Good luck chasing the Cape Trout Colby. A little over a month and its back to the Big Lake

Checked a small one not to far across the bridge, sandwich. pretty sketchy. Maybe 1.5", on the least freezing side of the pond... Other side might have been OK. Few more cold nights....
