Maybe tomorrow I will try to swing by. Have to run into Salem after a trip to Fallriver. It's tough there being so wide open any breeze causes big waves and no ice.

That's what I was thinking too bogman. Probably wishful thinking to believe we'd be on the ice there already. Probably need another week of these temps to make it happen.

Thanks R I will. I was just going to spud around the cove and probably the small island. I won't be going far from shore.

have the Flu? did you ever get any minnows trapped in Rowley? I went by the other day it was open on one end but the end by the pump house road looked locked up nice.

no. not flu. minnows in Rowley? the ones that the old guy (can't remember his name) gave me last year were spot tail minnows. they were taken off the list of permissible baits.

good to here your feeling better. I am looking for a white perch pond this year, may have to go north to Maine though for them. Hope to see you out jigging yellows this year. I may check out the res on the way home from Baldpate tomorrow.

Rich,
My son has hockey both Sat and Sun. Don't know if I can get out. I'm in Virginia and Carolina next week, but next weekend they have the district playdowns, so I will hit the ice, somewhere, around 10. Let me know if you're getting out.
Peace, kid.

Fished it today - stayed in the south cove. I had my kids along so when it went from 7" in that cove to 4" beyond the visibly broken chunked ice beyond the cove we turned back to play it safe since we carry tons of gear to keep them happy. Two guys came in the afternoon and went on out of sight, ice skaters had been on down the shore, never saw the fishermen again to know if they had any luck. Very slow for us, at least each kid landed a fish, the oldest an 18" bass the younger an 11" perch - both happy an ready for more fishing - myself skunked but wouldn't want it any other way. There was one open spot that we viewed in the morning from atop lake view road with hoards of geese. At about 3pm something got them moving and literally there were over a thousand geese flying around honking and eventually it seemed like most of them returned to that open spot - wild sight. Would love to go shoot a few but probably not legal on the res....love goose sausage.
Trying somewhere else tomorrow. It was making ice all day and now it is 20 @ sunset so will be even better tomorrow.
