panoptix and livescope depth requirements?
« on: Dec 21, 2018, 06:38 AM »
I know some fish finders work better in beeper water than others. Is there a depth requirement that must be met for optimal visual effect? Or would this unit work just as well in 6 ft as 20?
In winter we become gods and walk on water....

I have seen MANY videos now of this unit working in 2 feet to 30 feet of water. There have been far fewer videos in deeper water (probably because deep water lakes freeze later and the Lake Trout season is not open yet in many areas. I have heard that the lack of a "Zoom" feature is noticeable in deep water, but that said, the people that were using it there did not find that it impacted them much.

in shallow water, the down view will still cover much more area than any standard transducer. In 6’ of water, I was still seeing about 3-4’ off to either side of the hole, then just turn the transducer to face the directions you want.
