Frabill I-series new line
« on: Nov 04, 2014, 07:05 PM »
It appears frabill changed their line of bibs/parkas. I just exchanged my FXE snowsuit (manufacturing flaw) for an I-4 pair of bibs. Boy are they ever a different product. I put my snowsuit to the test in -22 degree weather, and did not get cold. The original bibs appeared to be built out of much heavier material, intertal leg gators, and zip-down access (for when nature calls).

I have been wearing the new I-4 bibs around the house for an hour and they seem awefully bulky. I am six feet tall and 183 lbs. I feel like I'm swimming in these things. The crotch and leg length seem perfect, but they are wide as heck. Maybe a new design to accomodate layering? Anyone have any first hand reviews or on the ice/water testing?

Hit the ice for the 1st time in my new bibs. High temp was 18 degrees and low temp near sundown was 5 degrees.  Late in the afternoon there was a slight breeze.

I found them to perform well when temps were in double digits for keeping the cold off. As for articulation, seams, and breathability I can honestly say they did quite well. When temps dropped into the single digits with a slight breeze, I became slightly cold. That was not the case with my previous Frabill Snosuit line. Sometimes change is good, but I would say not this time. They sure look sharp though.

I'm thinking about picking up the I-2 bibs from Amazon.  How do they fit?  I tried e-mailing them on my size but haven't heard anything.  I'm 6' and wear a 38-40" waist size.  Size charts says XL, just wondering if their chart is pretty accurate?  Thanks!
