Marcum LX-5
« on: Jan 05, 2015, 09:09 AM »
I just received my first flasher as a gift and I was wondering what people use to carry them around. Ive noticed people use a 5 gallon bucket to carry a vex around but the Marcum doesn't fit..

It should have come in a carrying case. It rides in the front seat of my truck. I treat it like a baby.

Not the tidiest solution but my LX-5 does fit in 5 gal bucket if tipped in from the front or rear first, cannot do that with the bottom flat down.

It is pretty secure in its own case. I just make sure it is secure on my sled.

There is a hard case made for them. I saw them on fleet farms site on clearance for $10. That is cheap compared to regularly $50.

Milk crate works best.  I have them mounted on my ATV and "Marky" rides just fine back there.

A couple of the guys have found small hard side coolers that they will fit in. I just leave my LX-5 in the sled or a basket on the back of the quad. No problemo. Sealed batteries don't leak if tipped over.

Keep mine in a milk crate. When I get to where I'm fishing I flip the crate over and set the LX-5 on top of it so it sits up closer for me to see.

I'm a puller (no 4 wheeler or snowmobile) so I dress down for the pull so I don't get sweaty.  I put all my warm clothes in an duffle bag, and inside that (swaddled) rides my Marcum.  I put it in the backseat of the truck for the drive, so all those clothes and the bag keep it warm and padded.

Hmmm, I wonder if my 7 would fit in a milk crate.  Too big for a bucket....anyone put their 7 in a milk crate?  I know they say to avoid setting the flasher directly on the ice because it'll drain the battery life and I don't want to get mine any wetter than it has to.

I have a LX-2 that fits nicely into a 35# Tidy Cats container.  Don't know if a LX-5 is bigger but give it a try.

Ther's a pic of one  five  pages back titled "Homemade or DIY projects"   post #'s  24 & 25.

Hope that helps.

The Marcum LX5 is pretty well protected in it's case, I carry mine in my truck then put in my sled when going on and off the ice.
It is treated just as my other fishing equipment!  ;)2
