I've kept 22-24". Came out tasty.

20-27"...maybe up to 30" and over only if I know there are big headed, small bodied longer fish where I am.

Have you ever tried eating Pike? I tried last year and loved them. I always thought of them as trash fish until I watched a video on how to filet them and then cooked some up.

I agree Lefty.

If crappie had more meat on them then I'd say they were my second favorite after walleye. But one 18" hammerhandle pike has the meat of at least 3 crappie. So I have to say pike is my #2 favorite tasting fish after walleye (freshwater, of course).

I can fillet like nobodys business! Y bones are a piece of cake!

Maybe I needed to be hungier when I tried pike but tried it 3 times and it does nothing for me.

Probably just got a bad recipe. Hang in there I know someday you'll be the one asking why someone else doesn't like it.LOL

Hey Im sure if I egged and breaded it and fried it in bacon grease it would taste divine!

in my opinion pike and walleye are so close in taste i cant tell them apart, last summer i fried pike and walleye at the same time, no one could tell the difference, both are very good

I like eating pike, my favorite is pan fried with an egg wash, coated in saltines. Last year in Maine we started keeping chain pickeral, real close to pike and pickling them, let the vinegar take out the Y bones. Here is the recipe, was a real treat, would highly recommend. I also used this recipe for pickling herring I netted, also turned out great!

Well shootlcx5 you have to catch pike first. I'll take you out and show you how!!! I know I didn't catch any crappie Saturday. And we didn't do well yesterday on our lake but when the pressure is on I'll come through.

If we keep taking them out of the lake the Feds are going to give you a badge and put you on the payroll. Meeting on the putting nets on spillway is going to be February 5 at City council room 6:00pm
