New to me fatfish 949
« on: Dec 31, 2014, 09:19 AM »
I have been wanting one ever since I bought my quickfish3 last year. I think I got a good deal at $150 on ksl, the guy only used it 2 times last year. I have not yet set it up cause of the winds we had yesterday, but in the pictures it looked like new. I wish it was the 949i but I am not complaining at the price. I will see how much bigger it is compared to the QF3 when I get home today. I also see a few of you have the 949, how do you like it?

Thanks

used to have quickfish2, been using 949 for 2 seasons so far, and its really big,esp when i fish by myself.
set up is not too hard by yourself either.
noticed that the q2 used to hold up better in the wind, might be because of the shorter poles.
most of the times i would never anchor it; with 949 anchoring is a must if there is any wind.
but i still love it.

I love my 949i, I also had a qf3 for many years and the size difference between the 2 is alot. I do anchor the outside hub tie downs always and if the wind is that bad I'll throw a few on the inside corner anchor spots. Your going to love it randal

Sweet glad to hear that, glad the outside anchoring will do the trick. I love my QF3 the only down side I had was the room. Glad it is that much of a difference I was worried it wasnt going to be much different on the inside.

I also have a 949 that I have used the last two years, and I love it.  Have not had any problems with the hubs, and it has stayed plenty warm without the insulation.  Plenty of fishing space for 2 people.  In fact I liked it so much, I begged for the 9416i this year, for the longer bigger trips, and got one.  Can't wait to use it.  $150 is a great buy, you will be pleased!

Thanks Slapthefish, I am stoked. I will be using it this weekend to try it out. I did some research and found out mine is the newer version, that is a plus.
