Vexilar FL-20 Reconditioned
« on: Dec 24, 2014, 09:25 AM »
Well, I finally pulled the trigger and got a reconditioned FL-20 Pro Pack II w/12* transducer.  There isn't any ice here but this thing is awesome.  My only experience with a flasher is my brother-in-law's FL-8.

Couple things of note:

1.  Vexilar could have sold this as a new in the box unit.  There is nothing that indicates it was ever taken out of the box before.  It looks brand new and I save >$100...awesome deal vexilar!  They even through in a hat and golf towel as well.  The battery was even 100% charged.

2.  Is there anything wrong with running the unit sitting on my counter?  I've heard the magnets/rotors (have no idea what I'm talking about) will take time to settle in.  I figure I can do this (remember no ice so really just like looking at the lights!) and cycle the battery as well.

3.  Looks like I'll have ice ~New Years, how far north do I need to go this coming weekend to find ice?  SD (Yankton)?

No problem running it dry. Make sure the transducer is ticking, you can hear it and feel it.

the reconditioned units are new units that were sent to stores and then returned to vexilar for what ever reason by the store and most of the ones coming back are just battery issues where the store doesn't charge the battery or there might be a loose wire that needs tighting but the store doesn't want to deal with it so they send it back. the units are then looked at when they come back and repackaged when needed and a reconditioned label is added to the box. so in the end a person is getting a new unit at a reduce cost because even thou it basically new it can't be sold as new. If there is something found they do fix it and then test the unit first before repackaging it. the reconditioned units come with the same warranty as a new unit. I would not hesitate to buy one of these reconditioned units. they are a good deal.
