I walked around scheels with the ice lowrance in one hand and an flx-28 in the other for nearly an hour, trying to decide which to get. I know how to run a vex so it won out. If I was starting off, the lowrance would have been added.

Love my flx-28 but IMO chose the flasher that is right for you. Try out different units and then you can decide which one you like best.

Tried to find more info on the Lowrance unit. Does it have a bottom zoom/lock feature like the Vexilars?

I just purchased myself the lowrance elite 5 hdi. It has a split zoom feature. I can zoom in on the bottom on the left side of the screen while still seeing the whole water column on the right side.
