bought a tickle stick
« on: Nov 17, 2014, 08:22 PM »
I have been reading a lot about the tickle stick lately. Well I was at fleet farm and finally got to hold one. It felt awesome. I bout a ultra light and cant wait to try it. I don't think 13 fishing was lying when they said "revolutionary".

Awesome! My buddy just bought one and brought it over as I've been thinking about buying one. I was pretty impressed and will also be buying one! Hopefully my local fleet will be stocking them this year, or maybe I'll buy one at the ice expo :)

Sure you will like it. I will post a review tomorrow night. I am going to a small lake tomorrow after some blue gill. The rod loads up nice with a small jig and seems like it will be good for bite detection.

I've been interested in one of those for a while now. Definitely report back so I can add it to my ice show list.

I was thinking of buying one after molesting it for a while. lol
Then my girlfriend shows up with one for me  :o ;D

I hope it remains its tip flexability in the cold. I like the rod,i love the tip.

I would love to hear what you think of it. I am trying to decide between the tickle stick or getting a St. Croix Legend Silver rod. I really don't need either but I just can't help myself.

The small guides scared me off. If you fish outside they will freeze up for sure. I don't understand why rod company's keep putting these tiny guides on ice rods.

Because modern rod makers cater more to shanty fishermen rather than bucket sitters.

There are different specifications for the optimum jig weights for the Tickle Stick rods.  These would apply to the tip sensitivities, indicating they are different for the different action rods.  You can see the specifications on our sponsor's website:

I went out today for three hours. I marked one fish and caught it. A 7 inch bass. The rod was great on the hook set. I could really feel it in the handle compared to the old Jason Mitchell rod I was using before. The rod tip did maintain flexibility in the cold. It was 12 degrees today. The bad part was the eyelets freezing up.when I wound up and the ice caught the eyes the tip folded right over into itself butwas still fine. these are just my first impressions, didn't get to set the hook a whole lot. I'm goona try a different lake tomorrow.

Picked one up at my local fleet farm this evening. Will put it to use this weekend as my panfish pond has several inches of ice. I'll write up a review and maybe even put up a video review on YouTube!

I preordered couple and wasn't impressed with the small guides since I sit outside most the time.   I've had problem with spring bobbers freezing up and thought this was the ticket.  Will post when I get some fish able ice.

I'm holding off, I was at Gander Mountain yesterday and they had a bunch of them marked down($29.99) because the tips were broken off. They put new tips on the broken ones but most of the yellow tip was missing.

I've been fishing quite a bit with this rod now.  I have to say the rod is fantastic.  The more I use it the better it is.  I can feel when my waxie isn't on the hook right in 13 fow.  The tip is holding up great, I keep it in a hard travel case when transporting.  I have been fishing 15 degree temps and above.  The tip does ice up with the small eyelets but not real bad in those temps.  I would definitely buy another one.
