Perch seem plentiful on the B.O.Q. but any that I have caught have been small, 3-6or7 oz.
May your tip-up spool while your flag raises with hopes of landing the big one.

I hear ya!  Last year I was getting good hauls from the river around landon's bay...not this year.  Tried a few times early in the season, nada.  Tried last weekend, got a few, but nothing great.  Other guys I've been talking to said the same.  Hope we didn't eat all the jumbos last year,  ;)

I've caught a few a bit deeper i.e. 17-23' in a little current and over sandy bottom the babies are still in the shallows.

Dave
I was out this afternoon, bunch of small ones and 1 over 9 inches. nothing to get excited about. And a hard walk out and big areas with slush underneath.

Worst part is it took 10 minutes too convince the first one it was hungry,  set the hook and didn't know if there was a fish there or not.

Worked Halstead Bay area in 12 FOW today for 1.5 hours with nothing to show.  One showed up briefly on the screen and promptly buggered off.

Thanks for the update Tim, too bad about the bite.  Not the news I wanted to hear, I finally have a day-pass this Saturday to fish all day and was hoping to put some jumbos on the ice...might have to switch gears and try for pike.  Shoot me a message next time your coming out my way, I'll probably be out there Saturday anyway.  How was the walking?  It was brutal when I was there, I'm hoping this cold hardens up the top layer!

i've been out for short tries a few times lately and nothing but an incredible number of dinks.  Trying again tonite, will let you guys know.  It'll be a while before the ice is gone, it was making ice the other night when I was out and it was the thickest ice I've seen in my 4 years of ice fishing.  Just crazy how much is left considering we're almost in April!   :o

The last 3 weeks  on simcoe have been awsome for perch.   They've been extremely  aggressive.   Caught my personal best last weekend.  13 1/8s @ 2.5lbs.  Took 19 home in the 10-12inch range.

well sad to report I didn't do well last night out there  :-\  I talked to 2 people who said they've been doing decent on the jumbos last few days but I only managed 2 jumbos and a ridiculous amount of dinks.  It was cold, wet and windy out there, but there's lots of ice still - I would say over 20" and there was probably 2" of water on top after last nights rain.  Hopefully they co-operate better this weekend!

Hey, has anyone been out on the St. Lawrence in the Gananoque area lately? I'm thinking about taking a run down there on Friday, and I was wondering how the ice is holding up.

Just west of the twin bridge at Landons Bay is a turn off to a parking area. Still lots of ice. I've been out a few times. The jumbos are mixed in with a bazillion small ones. Be prepared to do a lot of hole hopping. 5 minutes per hole has been working for me. Good luck and enjoy the warm weather on Friday. Hope the Easter Bunny doesn't leave you a big goose egg on the day  lol

Many thanks for the info, Q. Very helpful to me. At the very least, it looks like it might be a good day to get a sunburn!

I've been out there the past 2 days and the ice is getting really soft and lots of open water near the shores and Islands. Did good but calling it quits for the season for me, better safe than sorry.
