information on an out of state fishing license

so I just printed of my annual out of state fishing license for SD an it says the date is only good from 12-2-14 to 1-31-15. a buddy of mine got his last year around the same time an its good for a whole calendar year im just wondering why mine isn't good for a full calendar year any info on this would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I usually purchase my non-resident annual after the first of the year. Just checked my license and it was purchased 2/04/14 and is good to 1/31/15. Perhaps since you purchased yours during 2014, it is only good to the end of the first month in 2015? I checked the SD GFP site and couldn't find the date of issue verbiage.

Perhaps you should check this thread and find a SD GFP office to give a call and verify your expiration date.

I don't think you're going to like the results of that phone call. Every license I've ever purchased has only been good thru January of the following year. They really should issue them for a year from date of purchase but since they seem to increase license fees every year anymore, God forbid they lose out on those extra couple dollars every year. I guess the lesson here is to wait to buy your license in January of the year and get as much out of it as possible.

That is kind of what I thought diesel2012. A license purchased in that year is only good for that year, just couldn't find it on the site.

Greg0371 is correct. December 15th on gets you 13.5 months, before Dec. 15th only gets you to January 31, 2015
