All of my resources were good for a sunfish that almost covered the palm of my hand - My take for the day....My neighbors ten year old son pulled up 4 Pickerel and a 23" 5# Largemouth! Fishing with an old Normark jigging rod and an oversized fathead! (without $300 Clam Kenai) We laughed and laughed!!

I loved it Rags - And to see a winter Largemouth that size was something else. It was one tough customer. Released to fight another day. It's priceless to see a kids face when a fish of ANY size is flopping on the ice

My grandson does that to me almost every time I take him, and I also love it.

sometimes it's not the amount or type of gear ya got... sometimes it just comes down to natural ability  ;D

My little one told me that it was alright... maybe he'd let me catch a big one too, lol!

My wife asks why I don't take it easy on my nephews when I play games with them.  The reasons are two-fold.  Gotta learn you have to work hard in life.  And the second is because I know there will be a day when they will beat me and I can no longer win.  Gotta enjoy it while I can.  And when I do lose to my nephews.......It will be bittersweet because then I can rest knowing they will be ok in life.  I cant wait til they do outfish me as it means I taught them well......But right now I don't get to do any fishing on my trips to the lake with them as I usually have 4 kids six years old and younger (three nephews and my oldest daughter) that I have to juggle, teach, entertain, and bring home safe. :o

PS when they do outfish me....you can bet that I will take credit for teaching them everything they know!  I just hope they remember me and take me fishing when I am old

  • LX5 or die...maybe extra battery.
LOL a few years ago, I took my then five years old son, trout fishing at the stocker pond.  Everyone was fishing bobbers so we rigged some trout dough on the bottom.  He pulled up the biggest trout about 15".  All those regulars were envy eying.  Well now they all use trout dough now.

  • STAND FOR THE FLAG, KNEEL FOR THE CROSS
I fished with my grandson last year, and neither one of us were doing any good, so he decided to go "play". So I'm jigging away, and watching his rod sitting on the ice next to me, and the tip slowly dips down towards the water, I yell at him, You got a bite, he says ok thanks. About 15 minutes later he comes back and asks if it's still there and picks up the rod and reels in a 13in perch. I had to bite my lip, but times like that get the kids back out on the ice and away from the video games. Good for you for taking him out. keep it up.
