Minnow Tanks
« on: Sep 12, 2014, 10:00 AM »
Does anyone have an old freezer/ fridge laying around that they would be willing to part with? Looking to build a minnow tank for home and these seem to work great. If not anyone have other ideas I could put together??

Working on the same thing but using a large Coleman cooler need to make a couple modification to it for the aerator line in and the bubble block. Should work fine had an old igloo cooler I used but had some ice build up issues inside it last season.

a 5 foot round stock tank is what I use now, used to use old ice cream freezer but it went to leaking. tank works great I put a heat light over it to keep from freezing in winter and has been good.

The freezer works real well and make a box around it including a lid and put that foam insulation on the frame then find a vane  type pump online that pumps air then get some 1/2" soaker hose and attach it to the inside of the freezer using them plastic wire clips silicone the screws then attach it to the pump with a valve to regulate the air. This system is in use and is flawless and with the box around the freezer it wont freeze even if the room its in isnt heated which thats the best to keep your minnows acclimated to cols water.
I admit it I am an Ice O Holic
