Ice Force Suit
« on: Mar 09, 2014, 06:29 PM »
Just bought a Ice Force suit from Rapala .com

169 for jacket 169 for bibs...on sale 20% off 134 eac (268) plus $5 dollar shipping

All black and grey.

Its not a floater

I liked the features and a lot ,a lot a lot of pockets in the right places .I like the cargo pockets on the bibs on the side, you can still get into em when your kneelin over a hole.

ANYONE HAVE A SET OF THESE ?  They are very new. DO YOU LIKE THEM.

Ill post my review after a 3/15/14 fishing trip in NY

Just got the suit ...

First impression. NICE,great material,looks cool....

Jacket and bibs are quilted lined ( I prefer fleece, but we will see )

Im 180 pds  6 feet tall

Bibs in large fit me perfect with room to move around, slash pockets on crotch area access your jean pockets.
cargo pockets on sides ride high (you don't have to bend down to get in them ,perfect ! )
2 zippered waterproof pockets on bib chest , behind them ,fleece lined hand warmer pocks
Velcro storm flaps on legs and chest zippers
ALL ZIPPERS ARE THE NEW WATERPROOF TYPE ! NICE !
Padded knees and butt.

Jacket large fits perfect ( if I was 200lbs prob would want a XLARGE but still go with large bib,bib is roomy )
Velcro rist adjustment with soft neoprene at rist
ALL ZIPS WATERPROOF
2 inside zip large pockets
2 outside zip large pockets
2 lower large Velcro cargos on jacket front
adjustable hood (dosent come off ) ?? may be issue with me  ??
main zips on jacket, bib and legs zip both ways for venting ,peein
D rings (plastic) don't know if they will hold up

All in all a real nice set.

Writing this because I searched around for reviews on this set for myself and their was none
Many others have helped me with other items , so heres my payback.

One thing I noticed I have tried on Frabil and ice armor bibs in a XL and they seamed tight on me
These bibs feel like Im layin in bed all bundled up in a comfortor with room to move in a large.

I will post actual use after 3/15/14 trip
(wind proof ? water proof , kneelin, ice buildup on ankles etc etc.

RACKMASTER.....

After a fishing trip in 30 degree weather , sleet and rain for and hour , and wind all day ( chill in the teens ) 14 inches of ice with 6 inches slush on top.
Did tipups and jigging for 9 hours.  (11 lb pike , 4 1/2 pound bass )

Suit is nice, I stayed dry and didn't feel wind all day.

Kneeling in 6 inches of slush to set tip ups and stayed dry ! ALL DAY

All the pockets are a plus .

I was actually sweating at one point      (layered under with a     t shirt ,   sweat shirt,    and fleece ) then jacket.
Without the fleece I think I would of been cold. Was able to ventilate using the leg zippers on thighs and front zip of jacket.

One problem was the leg zippers ,both sides.
They have small pulls and were hanging up first thing in the morning. They even jumped track and opened up (yes I was Pi$%#$%)

Today I lubricated them with some (lip balm ) old trick and they are doing fine. (I lubed all the zippers )

Ankles stayed dry and Velcro storm flaps at ankles stayed together,( I was wareing knee high insulated muck boots underneath.)

I have just ordered a XL jacket and will send back the large.
With a t ,sweat and the fleece I measure 45 inches around chest, There chart said large was 54 inchs on a large.Im thinkin they screwed up should of said 45 and XL 48 (itsaid XL 58 ?)

Don't know how they calculated that one but I felt tight all day in the Jacket.

Seems bibs are just right, but you may have to size up jacket.

Soft neoprene material at rists feel soft while your jigging (nice)

Hood was used and needed off and on (dosent get in way so im glad its attached, cant loose it and keeps neck warm.)

On a scale of 1 to 10 and 1 trip under its belt I,ll give this suit a 8

Zippers need bigger pulls on legs and jacket main (long pulls on all pockets work fine .

I like the all black and grey ( IT SHOULD HIDE DIRT <BLOOD AND FISH SCUM WELL )

and it looks COOL !
It also should heat up nice with a little sun on those cold days.

Hope this helps someone......   Post your experience if you get one.

Tight lines mateys ................  AAAAArrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
