this rain sure put the kee-bosh on my ice fishing plans.furnace isn't safe, all the ice melted around the edges.
guess i'll just have to hit merl crik or the valley with the boat.

Fished Furnace on Monday .... have 6inches of solid ice....fishing sucked!!  Seems like the entire bottom of Furnace is paved with 3-4 inch Yellows.  Only got 2 Yellows bigger than that, and they were only abt. 10".
All fish caught jigging, no hits on tip ups for 5 hours!!

I think I have the perfect solution to the fishing quality at Furnace. Stock many more Musky. It needs something to eat all that small crap.
Furnace always struck me as a place with huge potential. Seeing what it has, stock more Musky or Pike, trust me (hey NJ, are you listening?).
Has anyone gotten any big Musky there yet?
The more I fish, the more I  to fish, but the only  I need is BEER.

I'll tell you one thing......... with all those damn tiny Yellows in there the Muskies should be having one huge feast, and should be growing humungous!!!
This is a small lake.....where are all the decent size fish hiding????  We fished it off the boat ramp, out to the middle and off to both sides.  Never found more than 18 ft. of water.  Does it get deeper over by the turnstile side???   Is there a better area to fish than where we were???

I believe it has around 40 feet or more. There is an old streamchannel running from the outlet at the dam, running perpendicular to the dam, and then curving gradually towards the beach area, I think. Go from the launch to the turnstyle and you will cross it.

Nick   I tried to take a pic of the topo I have and could not download on to computer because the wife was doing some cleaning on the computer and accidentally deleted the file. Check your PM for the info I provided.
 Heck  Here it is
When exploring new lakes I find this guide extremely valuble :
Two other outstanding sources of information on our rivers, streams and lakes are published by New Jersey Sportsmen's Guides, P.O. Box 100, Somerdale, NJ 08083. The New Jersey Lake Survey Fishing Maps Guide( THIS ONE) and Discovering and Exploring New Jersey's Fishing Streams and the Delaware River can be ordered by calling 856-783-1271. Both of these guides provide a wealth of information on locations, fishing opportunities, hot-spots, fishing tips and how-to articles by some of the best known writers and anglers in the area. These are a must for both serious and beginning anglers to get a true sense of the incredible variety of aquatic resources and angling adventures that exist throughout the state. Surprisingly, many of those adventures exist right in your backyard at local ponds, reservoirs and streams. These guides will help you learn what's out there and how to get it on the end of your line.

YOU may get the book before I find the disk to download the topo to you.

anyone got some winter stocked trout from there while icefishing?  I've seen some guys do really well catching rainbows in that place last year.  They dumped about 900  last month?

I am going to Davidson's Mill today.  Can't get there till about 9:00 a.m.  I stopped yesterday and checked the ice - about 6 inches.  Has anyone been fishing there yet?  I want to try up north on Saturday morning.  I know Cranbury is low has anyone fished there?  Let me know if you have or if anyone else is heading up that way.  Thanks.
