Good jigging action this morning
« on: Feb 25, 2014, 02:53 PM »
Hit webster lake this morning, got there at 6:45 was fishing by 7:00.
Went straight to my usual spot jigging 16-18 fow where i've been getting them and right away was marking fish in the first three holes i drilled that turned out to be crappies and perch. Picked up 10 crappies, 2 perch, also dropped a few crappies at the hole with one that looked like a real nice size slab.

Another hour goes by with only a few hits but they came off shortly after i hooked them. So i then decided to try a little shallower in 12-14 fow where i picked up a few bass last time i was there but only had what felt like a few bluegill nibbles.

I was happy with the crappies but really was hoping to come across a few bass, but had a bad feeling i was getting the skunk on the bass, but then i decided maybe i better go check out deeper, maybe the bass are sitting out there do to the cold front. So my first hole out in 21' i quickly mark a fish near bottom, drop my jig down and it only took a couple seconds before i had a fish on. spent the next couple hours out in 21-24 fow and caught 10 bass and 2 more crappies.

No monster today, most of the bass went between 1 and 1.5 lbs with one at close to 2lbs and the biggest at around 2.5lbs. The crappies were all decent size with 10 of them between 13''-14'',one small one, and the biggest at 14.5''.

artificials, thats all i really ever fish. Had two jigs, one with a #10 hook and one with a #14 hook and for some reason i couln't get any fish to hit the #10 jig, only wanted the tiny one with a 1.5'' trigger x wax tail bait
