It's plowed down to either access in the State Park. Haven't had much luck there this year though.

I think all the noise on the ice during a derby has a lot to do with that. I use to fish ice fishing derbies all the time but now if I do one it'd be the Benson. I can understand why some would like it but just isn't really my scene. I only really fish 3 different spots on St. Catherine and there all within 600 yards of the state park area so my fishing report for the lake is for only right there.

i fished it pretty hard a few years back and had pretty good luck, hooked up with one of the locals named CHRIS and fished with him and he is still catching a couple nice ones now and again he steered me in the right direction a few times, very nice fellow.  i'm just waiting for my buddy DAVE BARTLETT to do some scouting on champlain for me before i decide where i will be fishing ;D  ;D
