My buddies are trying to do an ice dive and asked me how thick the ice is at wheathouse. If anyone can give me a quick answer id appreciate it. They need it to be less then 20 inches....they tried the intake today in massena and it was about 30 lol

I wish I had the extra cash and time to learn how to scuba dive! I do plan on going and watching them when they do their underwater dive though

Been an avid SCUBA diver since 1961 and did one ice dive in all that time.  STUPIDEST THING I EVER DID !!!  We froze our a$$es off, even with dry suits, and accomplished NOTHING  except to make our selves look ignorant!!  Ice diving is a dangerous, foolish thing to do (except in emergency situations like retrieving drowning victims, recovering property like ATV's, Cars, etc.).
We were young and foolish...looking to prove how brave we were.....in other words, JUST PLAIN STUPID !!

MY ADVICE TO YOU..... learn to SCUBA dive, enjoy the beauty of tropical reefs, or clear lakes...IN THE SUMMERTIME !!!   Stay OUT OF THE WATER IN WINTER !!!  Save your Mom & Dad the grief & expense of YOUR FUNERAL !!!

I was at wheathouse bay last weekend and the ice was 13.5 to 15in depending on the area. Hope this helps.
