Crappie going nuts
« on: Apr 12, 2014, 10:12 PM »
The Crappie were going nuts this evening. Didn't start biting until almost 7:30pm then went gang busters. had 2 or 3 fish charging a dropping jig coming up 5 or 6 feet attacking jig. I kept about 15 between 10" - 12". I was able to drive the F150 out on the lake 12" of solid clear ice under about 4"-5" of white ice. The shoreline was still solid but wet, this will probably be the last weekend you will be able to drive out. Btw this particular lake did not have as much ice as most bigger lakes do.

Was still at least some ice on bodies of water down to Eau Claire but was gone everywhere once we hit La Crosse this weekend.  We still have a solid 2 weeks of icefishing but I am going to be pulling my sled out from now on.

I'm done driving out now myself, even though there is still plenty of ice. Calling for low tonight 10f and 4" to 6" of snow Wednesday. Highs in the 30's till Friday. We will be ice fishing the opener again May 3rd.
