Fishing near spring
« on: Feb 24, 2014, 09:26 AM »
I have recently been fishing a lake that has quite a few springs and I was wondering, since no ice is made at those springs, would that mean that water is warmer or it doesn't freeze because it's moving water? I have fished close to these springs and have had a lot of luck thinking that fish would move near the warmer water

Generally groundwater entering a lake via a seep or spring is at about 55 F, so it does warm things up a little. The ice is degraded by the temp, and sometimes the moving water if the lake is shallow.
