Personally I won't go anywhere without my lowrance. I don't always use it only because if I am fine ng gills its not necessary but when I am perch or walleye fishing in deep water I found it eliminates a lot of dead water. I actually convinced my uncle who has been ice fishing for over 40 years without a graph that you need one and now he is hooked. Its all about preference and opinion.

well hear is a different point of view , maybe now he fishes different because he actually sees the fish on the screen , from non seeing to seeing may make a person fish a little different JMO ,

I used to be a tip up guy my whole life. 2 buddies showed me how to use their flasher last season. Thought it was awesome. Bought a flasher last year. Tipups been out twice since...As I'm jigging of course. I just like to jig now.
My buddy ended up buying one after using mine. Flashers are a great tool for ice fishing. I'm learning the small details now that was mentioned by a post above about structure, mood, marking fish etc. Flashers can take time to learn.

Electronics is just another peace of the puzzle. It's not what makes a good fisherman or fisherwomen. You still need to put it all together. Don't get fooled into thinking if I get a flasher I will kill them every time out. It's not going to happen. I will not go out without my flasher or gps with map chip, pieces to the puzzle. One tells me where I'm at. Cuts down on the holes I need to drill to find what I'm looking for. The other tells me if I have fish under me, what depth they are at, and the mood there in. if nothing is under me it tells me I need to move to find fish. It tells me I need to change bait's or lure or color to find what will work. I also use a camera in shallow water. The problem with a camera is it only shows you a small piece of what's under you and gives the fish something to tangle in. This is just my point of view.

I'd like to thank all those who responded with positive comments.  I was able to pick up on a couple of things that will hopefully make a difference and thank you to the individual that sent me a PM and spoke with me on the phone.
