you may laugh but i try what scott said and it wooks real well pull 2 traps and had over 200 shinners  iam leaving my trap in for one more day unless someone around buxton wants some let me know

How late in the year can you catch shiners in a brook??   sorry i have  no experience but i need about 5 dozen shiners for opening day and they get expensive.

i just dont seem to have as much luck in a brook...small ponds is the way to go. if  you know they are in there , i think you would still have a few weeks before the water temp gets too cold but just a guess.. i think once the ground starts to freeze the water temp of the brooks will drop faster

You guys are right.  They do work.  Put half a bag of doodles in the bait trap this morning, checked it 2 1/2 hours later - two dozen fishie's! 
Don't ask me why I only put half a bag in..........it was a ten minute drive from the store.  Good thing it wasn't 20 minutes.  ;)

I live in Westbrook does anyone know of a pond or creek within 10 miles I could trap for shinners ? And has anyone heard of any smelt camps open?

ive been having a heck of a time catching bait this year.  I just changed to different bait.  i guess ill try the doodles if my bait dont produce in a couple days.
