Good ice!
« on: Feb 07, 2014, 07:59 PM »
Me and number one son fished a different lake today, much to our surprise we found 8-9" of good ice.The most ice we have found so far has been 5-1/2", so we were pleasantly surprised seeing as the five lakes we fish are all within an hour of each other. The big difference I think is all the other lakes have 4-6" of snow on them, this lake is wind swept clean.

It's comforting with that much, Osage. Easier to relax without the pucker power.   :woot: :roflmao:

Was there any "catchin'" to go with the fishin' ?

No pics no worries, I'm always there with you in thought, Osage.

Some few of us can just see truth in the posts.      :angel

I know the feeling Osage. One lake I went to back on January 10th had 7" at that time (Watoga Lake). Leaving out in a bit to go back. Probably over 12" there now. Local lakes ranged from 6-8" last week before the warm spell and rain. Check one of them out yesterday afternoon, it only lost an inch. from 7" down to 6" so I'm one happy camper. I figure we have at least a few more weeks left. Temps look pretty decent for keeping ice through the next week or so then we got a warm spell coming. I hope it changes by then though. Tight lines...

So glad you found good ice.  Up here we are able to park on it and that saves allot of  parking hassles, of course drilling until the handle is on the ice is a bit of a hassle too.

Lots of Ice I imagine some of you in the areas that had short seasons at best , will be seeing allot of extra time.   The Bait dealers and Hotels, Coffee shops, Tackle Stores and others will make a few extra bucks..

All the extra snow will cause a huge run off and the rivers are all going to benefit from a good spring cleaning, and a  better trout run and the lakes have all been so low lately.

So Good Ice is absolutely True..

Spuds ( Sore Shoulders ) all good.

We have fished more this season than 5 seasons combined.I don't think I want ice so thick the auger handle is on the ice,and as far as driving on it......I'm not sure I could ever feel safe.I hope everyone gets all the ice they want,I to figure a few more weeks at most for us,soon as number one son gets home from work,we're hitting the lake, fish on!
