smelt bite?

Anyone know how the smelt are biting at Joes or Waterbury res?

Yeah I went there a few weeks ago. Flasher was lit right up but didn't seem to want to bite

Downsize you jig to like a size 22 hook, use one maggot, and fish just below the ice to where you can no longer see it. Works for me!

Fished Wat Res Tuesday (sunrise to early afternoon) bite was on and off sporadically.  Was having best success in middle of water column 15ft down in 30ft of water.  Did just under 3 dozen.  Silver Hali, red eyes most productive.  I replace the chain with a 2-3" piece of flouro ice line 2lb test attached to the hook.  Cheers!
