And do not use tipups and jigging poles from one body of water to another as there may be traces of water on them....also be sure to change your boots too because you may have ice from a hole drilled from one body of water that you do not want to get onto another body of water...and if you take an ATV or sled out, be sure to change the tires or track before going to another body of water, same if you drive a truck out, change tires BEFORE going to another body of water....because everyone knows that almost all of our lakes are completly dead now and have no fish or any kind of life to them what-so-ever......sorry couldnt resist....
Really? Almost every body of water we have is so overrun with invasive species you don't even know what's native and not anymore. Go take a look at what's actually in the body of water you fish regularly and you will probably be amazed at how many of the species aren't supposed to be there... Rainbow trout, brown trout, salmon, alewives (sawbellies), smelt, pike, gobies, milfoil, hydrilla, eel grass, European Rudd, carp, lampreys, the list goes on and on and on it makes my head spin. We should do whatever it takes to stop the problem... and if you dont tell people not to do something they will never not do it on their own and just keep trashing everything we have like we did for a hundred years already. And on your second note..... If you're trying to lead us to believe that fishing is better now than before people came along and that it doesn't matter anyways because we can't mess it up and theres fish everywhere for the taking you've got another thing coming. I wish i could see how good the fishing must have been before pollution and human intervention. Anything we can do to try and get it back to those days is a good thing if you ask me. People can choose whether or to to follow rules, regulations, and laws but without them it would be a free for all for everyone and the "abundance" of life that you've become accustomed to might not exist as you know it.
What does that have to do with simply using water in your bucket for your minnows?...that was the point...
Just to clear the air here: I was quoting your post, therefore I was responding to what they had to say and not necessarily to the thread as a whole. But to answer your question... Everything! The reason they have baitfish regulations is to stop the spread of disease and invasive species. Seems overwhelmingly obvious to me. Did you think they came up with these laws for their enjoyment or out of spite? If you like I can elaborate, even monosyllabically (with the exception of the words viral, hemorrhagic, and septicemia amongst others as they would be critical in an explanation) if it makes it easier for comprehension.. FML.
Sounds like someone majored in conservation biology.
AMEN...I absoluty do care for our lakes...but lets be realistic! Using water for your minnows is not going to transplant rainbow trout or gobies or whatever....I respect the law with the bait-fish and all other laws that have some common sense attatched to them!
