Not being specific but I think pop up hubs are the best bang for your buck. Lightweight, large and sturdy. Can get a 6x6 between $125-150 and an 8x8 for around $200.

In a perfect world though, I like a flip over. You can keep all your gear in the sled and offers the ability to move often.

Probably the best thing you can do is make a list of what your needs are, from physical dimensions for hauling, weight if a factor, right on down to what you have in the budget to spend. What may work for me very likely won't fill the bill for you and visa versa. Find two or three that will work and then post the question to all the sharks that read the forum.

Good luck in hunting for a new shack. It's a fun time!

That depends on what type of fishing you do? If you like to fish with tip-ups and stay in one place, then a hub shelter is best. If you like to jig and move around then a flip over style is best. Hubs are cheaper and a lot more roomy but are not as easy to move. Flip overs are easy to move but have less room. I have both and use both a lot. Like whopper stopper said. Make a list of your needs, then we can help you get the best shelter for your money.

I agree with all the previous guys, the only thing else you might want to consider is, more than 1 person in the shanty.

Well if you just got into ice fishing, then maybe you want to find a good used one for a few years.  Then decide what kind you like. All shelters keep you out of the elements. Hubs are the cheaper way to go, but take more time to move. They are nice and roomy.  What ever you decide, you won't be unhappy. Like most ice fishermen, you will probably end up with more then one. ;D

Any shelter will be better than no shelter and allow you to be out longer.  Here is my quick guide on picking a shelter:

Flip overs: easy to set up, easy to move, 1-2 man usually, usually more expensive

Hubs: larger area, can fish more people more comfortable, longer set up time, harder to move, usually cheaper

Hope this helps
