I fished Buckmaster in Westwood on both Sat and Sun for a few hours each day.
Sat from 9:00 until 2:00 when the wind started to pick up more and more.
Jigged with worms and landed a bunch of sunfish and some large crappies.
The best part was while using the Showdown, I could see a line on the display suspended about halfway down, and when I raised the jig up to it....BAMM crappies! Almost every hole had something.
Sun fished from 9:30 until 1:30 and the wind and cold just beat me down.
I didn't catch as much as Sat, but I did manage a few decent bass and some hand sized sunnies.
I did have one fish break my line right after the hook set. Was probably a pickerel, but it felt great for the approx. 3 seconds I fought it.
All in all it was a good weekend, weather being considered.
I wasn't sure the ice would have survived, but I had 4" near the shore and 5-6" further out.
I fished the western shores, mainly due t the wind directions, and the ice was 6" there.
Depending on what today's weather brings, we should see some more ice forming over the next few days, which is a good thing!!!
