Made it out for the first time this year today... ended up with about a dozen crappie and a pike that decided a 1/64oz Marmooska tear drop would make a nice light snack...

bigredonice, should be fixed now. I'm from Ottawa, ON. We've got about 3.5" on the back bays right now... with very cold overnights thru the weekend so the ice should thicken rather quickly... can't wait, going back out tomorrow.

Funny thing is, as I put my rod down to go spin a few more holes, I rested my panfish rod into my Genz pack so it wouldn't get pulled in by a big crappie. I was on my third hole when my fishing partner ran over to my rod and kept it from getting pulled in. I ran over to a peeling drag and the pike must have stripped about 20' of 2lb. test and hooked himself right in the tip of his upper lip... gotta love when the fish do all the work for ya. I wasn't even using any spikes or waxworms, just a simple glow Lindy Tiny Tail skewered sideways on the Marmooska!
