Lesson Learned... Read The Regs
« on: Jan 14, 2014, 05:47 PM »
Heres a story..

I've fished Desoto Bend numerous times and had good luck on Catfish. . So me being the sportsman I am.. I send a couple guys out last sunday.. give directions to my honey Holes...
3 people were out and recieved a visit from FGW.... Well they didnt read up on the rules and regs for Federal Land...
2 poles per person..
Needless to say they had 15 poles out and did really well on cats.. . Mr. Game Warden stated the facts that 15 poles were to many and that its a 100.00 fine per pole over the 2.. then he stated its 175.00 per fish taken illegally.. then it would be another 150.00 fine for every fish that wouldnt swim away when he put them back in the hole..
all in all totaling the fish they had the fine would of been 1750.00..
Luckly for them Mr. FGW was in a forgiving mood and let them go with a warning...
So.. Lesson Learned..
Make sure your up to date with all the state Regs.. And for us going North.. Pay Close attention to details..
Just ask Bojihawk.....
Maybe a rookie at this game but willing to travel for the BITE....
Jiffy Pro4 8 in auger Clam Yukon Marcum LX 5 Muck boots. Xwife got the 4wheeler so I'm dragging it if I cant drive on the lake....

No you can have 5 per person there. If not, the USFG warden that checked all of us on Pelican last Saturday missed his chance at some serious fines!

I fish with five rods when things are slow.   I will bout out bobber poles   and then fish with an active jigger and my vex.  Now if things get hectic. I will set poles aside.

Fishing should be the exercise of your skills- and its rewards the places it brings you to

Having worked in the Fisheries Division of Game and Parks in Nebraska.  Every year Rules and Regs change in NE and all states for that matter.  It might not be the same Rules or Regs that change year after year, but there's always something changing.  It's a good idea to sit and read the "hole" thing and highlight the parts that pertain to your outtings.  You can even download it on your phone.  Limits constantly change and some of that is based off the Fishing Reports done on the major lakes and reservoirs every year.  Good Luck the rest of the "Hard Water" season.  Looks like it might be coming to an end in SE Nebraska unfortunately (hopefully not the case).   COME ON COLD WEATHER!!!!!

 :) :) :)
