Questions on the Midwest Open
« on: Jan 07, 2014, 06:42 PM »
I'm a newbie. Sorry if some of these seem silly questions.

1.  Are all the rules the same as on the website from 2009?

2.  What time is best to get in line for morning inspection?

3.  Do you launch in team numerical order, or the order in which you are in the inspection line?

4.  Are there any issues with towing your partner behind an ATV, or letting him ride on the back of the seat (with helmet, of course)?

5.  What is the launch location? The park?

6.  Will the top fisherman be wearing targets and bright green suits?  >:D

7.  How deep will the snow be? Crystal ball, anyone?

8. Where are the best fish not yet in someone's freezer or belly?  :icefish:

Thanks, really looking forward to this.

Dave

The rules are the same as far as I know if there's any changes they would tell us at the rules meeting Friday night. They line up by team number for inspection and how they are let go. They launch out of victory park it's about 1 to 1.5 miles to the fishing grounds. We had no issues with atv riders or sleds been pulled as long as the atv's have an orv sticker and helmets are being used.

Are you talking about the Midwest open, the Ludington event, or the Croton Dam pond NAIFC tourney?

There is no Victory park that I can find near Wamplers Lake, and the meeting is on Saturday.

The Midwest open launches riders at the boat launch at the state park,  first in line is first to be lead across the lake. Walkers line up at the state park beach.  Make sure to support Knutson's YEAR AROUND and not just for the tournament because when someone whom DID support them year around couldn't get in a local tourney........ I now shop at CABELA"S and BASS PRO!

Thanks Fishurman,

I'm happy to be going, and I'm sorry you guys didn't get in.

I thought Knutson's did a great job of explaining the process, and giving a head's up for the registration.

It sounds like they want it to be much more than a local tourney, but they did give over the lion's share of entries to Michiganders.

I'm from South Lyon, but I've been to Knutson's about 6 times since September.

Best Regards,

Dave

Glad those tourneys are f'in up the lakes I fish.   Devil's lake used to be a great lake to fish, but after years of being absolutely hammered by hundreds of people the fishing went in the sewer.  Hopefully Wampler's and Clark won't suffer the same fate as Devil's.  Good luck to all in the tourney.

I so agree with this i grew up on clarklake And rude sportsmen ruined the lake access for the real sportsmen  wampers is a shadow of what it once was  just look at what the dnr plants are not on these lakes http://www.michigandnr.com/fishstock/default.asp not a single panfish in years hopefully they stop the weed kill on wampers sooner then later

I'm somewhat unfamiliar with the Midwest Open, but was lucky and got picked to represent Wyoming in it. Are there a lot of guys that want in but don't get in?

That's alright.... I did buy a new Lazer Pro auger from Knutson's my fl-20, my boots, ice suit, jigs, and couldn't get in the tourney...that's what I'm talking about but hey..... Cabelas will enjoy my money and Somerset Outdoors is only a mile and a half for my bait.. It's a win/win for me!! And I now buy my corn for my deer feeder at the elevator... Good Luck guys and have fun and I will see ya at the weigh in.  I'm the guy who looks like Santa!
