Looking to fish there tomorrow and just curious if anyone has been there this week? Any ice or fishing reports would be appreciated.

I will be throwing in my spud bar and I have a buddy going with me.

Also curious if anyone has tried tip-ups with any success there? New to the lake and trying to figure out anything on depths or recommended areas to try. I know there are some big catfish in there.

Thanks!

Haven't fished in a while but lake is full of small crappie and gills few walleye and nice cats not sure where to fish but good luck! Be careful that lake can be dangerous at times!

pull up a navionics app on your phone for 10.00 it works Great!  Theres a channel running on the East side of the lake... Most people fish there for eyes and Cats..
Do some research on the NGP mapping of the lakes... That will be good also!
What are you looking at catching!

Anything and everything!?
Maybe a rookie at this game but willing to travel for the BITE....

Thanks for the info guys.

I do actually have the Navionics app....and it's great for situations like this. I'm just not sure where to go/what depth/where the soft/risky spots in the ice may be. I was planning on fishing for gills and crappie and thought I would spread a few tip-ups out with minnows and chubs hoping to pick up a cat or possibly a walleye while I was at it. It doesn't sound like there are many walleye out there but I figured it'd be worth a shot. Wasn't sure if anyone had any experience targeting the cats through the ice out there?

Normally I would just do a bunch of bouncing around and drilling holes but with the ice conditions probably being dicey I was hoping to focus in one specific area. Might have to look into that channel!

I like to fish the edges of the channel for panfish. So maybe put your tipups in a line across the channel since it is a fairly narrow channel.

Your best chance with tip ups is to set them across the flats for walleye

I appreciate the feedback guys. I thought I'd follow up and let you know how it went. I spent about two and a half hours in the area about 75 yards N/NE of the boat dock 12'-14' of water. There were 4 of us. We had 10 tip ups with varying sizes of minnows and chubs spread all over. And about 6-8 lines in the water jigging with small minnows and waxes...caught 1 16" bass on a big chub.. That's it though. There was a couple groups fishing close to us over a brush pike and they had picked up several crappie, all under 9" though they said.

Then we went straight across the lake and spent about 2 and a half hours over there fishing over a bigger brush pile and had tip-ups spread out just off the channel. Had several soft biters but no fish. Wind was pretty cold and things were slow so we called it.

Also, I talked to a couple guys who had went in the ice out there and I found several bad spots in the middle of really good ice. Dangerous place right now in my opinion. I was using the spud bar crossing the lake at one point and had water bubble up when hit the ice a few feet ahead of me once.

I think that'll probably do it for me ice fishing this year unless I head north....unfortunately .
