First try this hardwater season
« on: Dec 06, 2005, 09:10 PM »
Hi All !
I'm planning to go out on the Red this Friday morning...Dec 9th. Any information on where I should start looking for Greenbacks this early in the season will be appreciated. I'm taking a newbie with me to introduce him to all the fun. Has anyone been to the End of Main yet? Any shacks out there yet?

Blue Igloo Some pals and I have been doing well for greenbacks at Selkirk Park. Great access point at the boatlaunch and plenty of parking. This is no secret spot of anything like that but I fish directly across from the launch on the far side with some nice greenies taken thus far. 26.5 is my best so far but I prefure 16-20 inch eaters. Still nice to get some biggies for a quick photo and slide em back. 10 inches of ice, good and safe for walking. Won't be long till people drive cars and sleds out on the Red... then things turn into a circus.

Yellowtail, I checked out the Lock's yesterday. Still some open water on the west side where the boats come through. No tracks on the ice yet as I always let someone else go first. Be a few weeks yet.  No intention in becoming a hole finder at my age!

Thanks Firefighter for the info. I haven't fished that area in 4 years. Check out today's post for my fishing report.

Patience......it took me a while but it's there now. Pics included ! Only wished that my digital cam did not freeze up after taking those shots. I wanted to take a pic of the lucky fisherman with the MA walleye.  >:(
Have you been out yet Yellowtail ? I see you do a lot of posting ?  ;D
