Grassy Pond, Acton
« on: Jan 03, 2014, 02:20 PM »
Meeting up with a couple of buds Sunday to fish Grassy Pond  in Acton, I looked at the Mass F&G website but they don't list what species or even this pond on the site???  Can't find any info on this place...
Just looking for what this pond holds for fish, and an average depth... Is it any good??
Pm me with details if need be... I typically don't fish in that area so any info would be a plus.

Thanks
I just want to go ice fishing and ignore my adult problems

Wow, I fish that area and I don't even know "Grassy Pond."  I wonder if it Barker Pond or Mill Pond, by another name?  No matter, the area has lots of small ponds with good fishing.  I would assume shallow depth; panfish, pickerel and bass.

I googled it and it comes up as a conservation area, down off  Newtown Rd..
There is no other info about it, well that's a start thank you Rabbit

Go to MAfishfinder.com.  They usually have a description about the body of water along with species.  They also list bodies of water in the area.  Not a bad resource.

Nasty haul-in over rough trail. Jumbo perch & big pumpkinseeds when you can find 'em.

Def. not a go-to spot...

I just moved to town last year. I actually live on the swamp area bordering Barker's Pond now. I was very excited about fishing the pond when I moved here but so far I've been fishing there three times and have yet to catch anything larger than a 4" pumpkinseed. Has anybody else ever fished there with any luck... my only time out ice fishing, the young kids a couple houses down from me saw me out there in my cold weather camo suit and told their father that "a man was out in the woods watching them" that didn't induce anxiety or make me feel like a sex offender or anything  :-\... It doesn't seem like many people leave their homes in the winter the closer I get towards Boston these days.

Grassy Pond in Westford has some sweet fish, I don't know about the one in Acton, though.
