Cascade
« on: Dec 29, 2013, 12:12 AM »
Heading to Cascade tomorrow, the posts have me all excited.  I have not been there before, and would like to hook into some of those jumbo perch.  Any help would be appreciated, locations and bait to try.  I am leaving at 0600 for the three hour trip and staying the night to fish Monday also.

I would not recommend the sugarloaf area. Maybe Poison or Boulder creek.
Fish hard, or go home.

Went to Cascade yesterday!Fished blue heron in the morning for three hrs, one bite!. Drove up to sugarloaf and hiked out the boat ramp side till we hit main lake.Caught 3 perch and One really nice rainbow. It was a beautiful day,and it was my girlfriends first Ice fishing trip. She is ready to take the sleds out now that she saw ice in the 8 -10 thickness.Fish were caught using small jigs tipped with tiger worms. It seemed that if we move the baits alot right off the bottom they would school in but when we left them dead stick ,they wouldnt stick around. We also saw a compact car with 4 people in it driving across the ice. ??? Did anyone else hear the huge ice surge on sat around mid lake? There was a huge crack and deep boom and we all felt a big movment. The look on my girlfriends look on her face ,Priceless! ;)

Thanks all,  Just got back and after a lot of walking around the island and hand drilling 30+ holes.  we found some fish in less than 10 feet of water with the biggest perch being around 15 inches.  Wish I would have read the post prior to going but we did get some worms at Toms.  Had a lot of fun over the past two days catching a few big perch and trout.

I'm at cascade right now by the dam. We lost one and landed one trout. Very  slow!!! Good ice 10-12 in. I'll be heading to Magic res tomorrow. Any suggestions on where to be out there.
