If its gonna snow, it needs to do it before we start to make main lake ice. Snow would be the death knell to newly formed ice!

About 2" here just NorthWest of South Bend.  Don't see any wetspots on the ice in our channels here.Might of got enough to fight off the snow.

Not necessarily. I'm sure you've seen it make cracks from the weight in thin ice,  bring up water, the water saturates the snow and refreezes, and actually makes thicker ice. Not as strong as clear ice but still better than thin clear ice.

One thing we have going for us is it's been windy and once a lake freezes over it can keep the snow off the majority of the ice.

Yep...Saturday looks like it could be a big snow and unless the wind howls it could provide a blanket and keep next weeks temps from doing much ice making.  Hopefully it misses us or has alot of wind with it.

We'll lock up tonight i'm guessing wich means an inch or so on the main when the snow gets here. Sunday could help with the high winds they're talkin about blowin it off. Always something isn't there.

That's what makes life interesting.  ;) If there was no challenge it would be boring. You can't enjoy happiness unless you've had sadness. You can't enjoy a full tummy unless you've been hungry. You can't enjoy the sunshine unless you've experienced darkness.  You can't be satisfied with anything unless you've  experienced not having something. etc. etc.

Yeah I'm be philosophical tonight.  ::)
