Where would be a good place to get stuff for the inside? Should I use truck light fixtures and and a boat battery as back-up lighting? I plan on having a lantern. but I was thinking as backup battery power wouldn't be bad.

the 12 volt camper lights would be fine with a battery and a solar panel to maintain the battery .

Must be some 12v lights  that came in the camper? i have a battery powered motion light with a small solar panel from home depot that works awesome at camp.

The camper didn't come with any lights inside. Where is a good place to buy some?

Tore into the camper got all the destoryed canvas out of the way. Getting ready to tear out the old insides and gut her. The it'll be ready to start building. Should I go 16" on center?

Just wanna thank everyone. You've all been real helpful with tips and knowledge. So another question. Anyone build a bunk in their shack? My daughter has requested a bunk and a table. Any thoughts on that? I was almost thinkin makin like a table that can become a bunk(like a camper) or makin a bunk that folds down from a wall above the table. Just some thoughts I'm playing with.

Got some more of the destruction/cleaning done on the shack today. I tore out some useless cabinet stuff. Tomorrow night I gotta tear out and unbolt a folding countertop that has a sink and stove in it. I'm gonna try to reuse the bench seats table/bunk setup.I want to unscrew them and get them out and clean them up and reuse them. After I get it out tomorrow night I'm going to tear up the flooring. It's pretty disgusting inside. LOL. My daughter wasn't too impressed. I'll put up some pics as soon as I can.

after seeing those pics... might as well have just built a brand new 8X8  Hardside with tall runners and pop it on and off with a snowmovile trailer.... seems like after you remove everything you wont have much left anyways...  seems a little wasted time.. :-\ Guess ya didn't know what you would get into until you got into it..

I'm gonna reuse the bench/table into bed setup. I'm gonna take em out and clean them up and reinstall them. I have leftover linoleum from my house so the floor is getting redone. I'm going to build the walls on the inside of the camper bottom. Figure I'll keep the camper "kneewall" and flash from my wood wall over to it. If that makes sense.

WOW Sweet vintage trailer . I love the name !!!!!!!!!!    Yep it sounds like your on the right track .  Are you keeping the slideouts or no ???  The ones I have seen made campers do not have the slideouts they just build up from the main body and put the roof on that .  I to thought you had a little more to work with ,But it will be a fun project and a great shack when its done . Keep us posted on the progress .

they were put in afterwards.. we hardly ever use them anyways.  we usually don't fish in the shack. We mostly use the floor hatches as the refridgerator  ;D
