Recommend me a nice rod case for multiple rods
« on: Nov 12, 2013, 08:35 PM »
I have been using a doc sided bag that holds tackle as well, I'm done with that hing and want to get myself a nice rod case to hold multiple rods. Around 5 sticks. Any suggestions on a nice one?

I just bought one from Sportsmans Guide. It isn't a hard case but holds 8 rod and reel combos. they also have one that holds 12.

Rod case from ice fishing innovations. Six combos with handles open, up to six small tackle boxes too.

That looks like a pretty usable case.  I have an Otter Rod Case that I use.  Works well for 4 rod setups.  I'm looking at the Fishing Innovations case.  It's pretty nice.

I have the otter case and have done 6, sometimes 8 rods in it.  it is a fantastic case to protect the rods but it is big.

If you are nice with your gear, get the Cabela's ice rod bag. Very nice and soft sided case. Cheaper than most brands and lots of storage.

It seems like every "rod bag" I've used ends up getting full of hooks.  You either end up removing your baits before you put the rod in the bag, using a lure wrap or something along those lines.  With the otter box, it is lined with soft foam which is much more hook-friendly than nylon.  The advantage of the rod bags is they tend to be quite a bit smaller than the "box" style.

I have a frabil hard case and it is awesome, enough room for about 6 or 7 rods. The price is resonable also compared to the otters. I'd lean towards this IMO!

Otter all the way. I carry 8 in mine no problem. The thing is tough as nails, but very nice on the rods.

I have been leaning towards the frabil or the expedition 42 in case.  I carry 6 combos with me onto the ice and wasn't sure if the frabil would hold 6 combos.  Has anyone tried the Expedition yet.

trying the plano pilard break down shot gun hard case w/egg crate foam and 4 latches. might try cutting bottom section to fit things better or get some memory foam. maybe some hard spong rubber and make inserts to float the rods.

plenty of other threads have been posted on this

I too use an Otter case and can keep six rod and reel rigs in it plus it fits on the outside of my Otter box and doesn't get in the way.    However, that Plano case is awfully rugged as well.
