Rippin it up for a second time....

Well the day started out on the interesting side.  We start drilling holes only to find out that there are 3 inches of ice.  ???   I heard from a person that I have known for a LONG time and I thought was a reliable source of information tell me there was a SOLID 6 inches across it on Wed (next time I will check the ice for myself(see new guys the best reason to check the ice yourself (I should take my own advice))).  Got a message from Poot last night about the spot only having 3 inches in some areas and thought he was reading his tape measure wrong.  MillBillyMan showed up, decided that it wasn't worth swimmin today and decided he was gonna hit the Rip.  After a short debate AirbornIcer, Porter, and I decided to join MM on the Rip.  The two light weights BaitBucket and Jschumacher decided to stick it out and literally walk on water. 
 
So I get to the Rip a little while later after picking up my daughter (FishinGirl) only to find Stealth and Crudes3210 joined the group MedBry68 decided to show up a little later.  Flags were far and few between for me I had a few hit and runs on one tilt and cleaned off on a few others.  Did manage 1 little bass for myself.  My daughter on the other hand managed 1 nice bass and 2 nice slime darts.  More important than the fish was the company.  Had a great time today guys.  Can't wait to do it again.

She didn't wanna leave until the rain started coming down.  She LOVES ice fishin.

Awesome pictures, awesome fish...Looks like she will be hooked for a very long time, can't wait to hit the Rip with the guys soon!

She has been hooked on ice fishin since last year.  She has been hooked on fishin for a while.  Her PB best bass is over 5lbs she caught it 2 years ago. She caught it all by herself on a dora pole with 20lb braid.

Great time on the ice, Ed. I landed 2 pickerel and a bass.  At least I avoided the skunk. 









Let's make an effort to avoid the drama this ice season. We should all be grateful, newbies and oldies, in this New Year for the opportunities and connections the Ice Shanty affords us.  As an elementary school teacher I try to tell the kids it is not always necessary to respond and if it is try this:


Let's make it a great ice season, the choice is ours. Happy New Year.

I didn't see the point in taking pictures of my tiny fish today  ;D I did take a panoramic shot though. Zoom in and see if you can see the funny mess up in the panoramic shot. The other photo is my simple rain set up. Stayed nice and dry while under the umbrella. During pick up, I carried the top part of the umbrella. When I got to each hole, I placed the umbrella back into the bottom pole and stood under it while packing up my tilt (trap). Perfect height too :-) I use an old rod holder for my boat to hold the umbrella, couple bungies keep it from lifting :-)

All I see is a ton of flags down and a half ghost dog. You guys sure had that place peppered with tilts:-)

lol yup Buddy the ghost dog :-) he was running across the ice when taking the photo. Only captured his messy half lol

thanks Jim, you should see some of the other things I've thrown together :-) I'm the type that saves odd stuff to reuse in the future. I also had a great time. Stayed until 3:00, then the fog and rain was too much to see my flags. I had one up for who knows how long lol. No bass for me :-( owe well :-)
