Eskimo / Ardisam Auger

Spoke w/Tech Support about their motors @ higher altitudes (7K - 10K')

Best advise offered was the following:
 > @ altitude, adjust air flow max 1/2 turn in (clockwise) + adjust further as needed
 > use only premium gas
 > 7oz Seafoam to 5 Gallons Gas
 > mix approximately 40:1

I wonder what the screw setting is from lightly seated and then backed out. That's how snowmobile manufacturers specs are set.

asked the same good question, no answer
asked it again, answer was "not sure"
tempted to reverse engineer - mark w/perm marker, screw in 1 full turn, mark, another turn mark...

problem is, I did not buy it new

Exactly!!! I didn't buy new either.
Mine runs pretty well but I fear the blade angle may be off. That is a silly design they have encompassing the bit. It just gets locked up with ice. People don't know better and bang it up and down while cutting.
Good thing our other auger is a Strikemaster.  ;)

Most are all the way in and then out 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns out. Then for the High Altitude I guess they are saying 1/2 back in form there. Count how far you turn it all the way in. Most likely it will be 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns to seat.

I haven't done anything to mine and I think it runs great for the last 3 years or so I have owned it. Starts on first pull almost always. Times it doesn't is when I forget to prime it.

I have always used Mid grade gas and it is Ethanol free. The only place I know of that is Ethanol free on the Western Slope is 1/8 mile from my house.
I always mix 50:1 with Premium synthetic oil. Last year I used Stihl Chain Saw oil.

Hey Lefty - how are you holding up?  Hope all's well

we'll see how this new/used auger does at 9200'(under load) and adjust if needed.  After hearing so many good things about Sea Foam gas treatment, I picked some up and mixed a batch and will run it in this auger.

Hope life by the Blue Mesa is treating your right

All is well. Went to the Blue Mesa the other day just to see how it looked. The water level is higher then last year by I would say 10 Feet. Not sure though I am just going by where it was at last year by the Bay of Chickens I was able to cross over a small amount of water form the West side to the east. This year I would have to swim across 20 Feet of water to the other side.

My Eskimo Mako ran great at North Park and the Grand Lake area last winter without any adjustments for issues. I run an off the counter premixed fuel from the local small engine shop and I attribute the consistent starting to that fuel.
