Yes that was me and my buddy,we got spun around after being way out past the island and light went down  on the way in and coud not see nothing, and flashlight was useless, it was only our 3rd time out on lake, all ended well just got spun around, Thank you to there fire co for coming to the launch lit up like a xmas tree. There is not even a reflective sign or beacon in that lot,and car remote was broke. FIGURES .
buddy dont feel bad.your not the only one that got spun on that lake in the dark.im fishing it for many years and when it gets dark and the fog moves in it can be easy to get turned around.i got spun a few evenings in the past myself.they need a reflector or lite of some sort at that launch.glad you got off safe .

How long did it take for the fire co. to respond to your call to light your way home?
Did you call 911 or look up the stations number?
All kidding aside glad you made it back to shore to tell the story. Any catching to report?
With the weather up that way has anyone checked the conditions we are thinking sat/sun could be the last hurrah personality529 posted he may be up on 3/15/13

all jokeing a side  i got lost on this lake twice after dark .not fun the last timewas 4 years ago with my 2 sons .1 was 11 and the other 14. t.we didnt have to call for help but it took us a while to find where we parked.if you think thats funny i dont know what to say.the 2 guys that had the problem monday are friends of mine.they are great outdoorsmen and never have a problem hunting or fishing.when the fog moves in on this lake after dark you dont know what direction the lot is,the fish commision should put up some reflectors or a lite of some sort.we pay enough for our lic.all im saying is if you were never there you shouldnt make a joke of it.i sincerely hope it never happens to you.not being sarcastic about it.be safe and good luck.

Everyone heading out this weekend be safe. I have traded in my jigging rods for my ultra lites and spinning tackle. I will be fishing from shore tomarrow evenign for crappie. No more on the ice till next season. Ugh! I can't believe I just typed that. :(
We are all here cause we are not all there.

Chez,
I have been to White oak  and can understand that happening . My questions were legitimate and sincere, I was interested in the details of the event and I don't think my questions were inconsiderate to say the least sorry if you took them that way. Considering the perceived attack on one of your posts recently I would think you would sit back and let the person who was questioned respond positively or negatively to my questions and not try to paint me like a jerk.

We fished White Oaks on Sunday 03-17. started drillin about 7:20am and left at 11:30am. I would say we lost 3 inches of ice since last Sunday. Fishing was pretty slow out near the island "point" whatever you call it. Wind was blowin and holes were freezing over quick. Had eight tipups in and two of us jiggin 12 FOW.  5 pickrel on the tipups and maybe 20 pannies. 15 came home. Perch and gills. I think this will hold up for another Sunday trip.. see ya on the ice!  Ice was still between 8 and 9 inches.  Shore line was tight! 5-FLAGS

Well I guess we will see what Mother nature has in store for us this week and re-adjust our plans for next weekend. I work Full time during the week and this lake is almost an hour away. I am a weekend warrior!! "That's if my wife doesn't have a "honey do" list for me!!!

i work the same buddy.only get out on the weekends i know about that to do list all too well.thats what ill be doing this weekend so not to interfer with the trout opening.i think belmont might have safer ice this weekend.they are saying it had more than oaks during the week.it was safe on oaks last night but it was changing depts of ice thickness out in the middle.i fishing oaks a long time i think it might not be safe this weekend.be safe and good luck.

I'm hoping to get out here this coming weekend but if not I have a back up plan.  I was supposed to go on Sunday with Chez, his Sons, Jigemup, and his friend Lenny but it didn't work out.  I got here on Saturday with these guys and had a good time but working the midnight shift caught up to me.  Oh well this will happen but keeping my fingers crossed for this weekend but first and foremost is being safe.

Belmont is my back up plan but I never fished there before.  No matter where I go safety is ALWAYS priority one after that it's having fun and then catching fish.  I just love being out there having fun and spending time with good friends especially Chez and his Sons.  If you don't have fun with those guys you need to check your pulse.

I'm not ready for Spring Pal and am with you about being surprised we still have some safe ice considering the late start to this year's season.  I'm happily remembering two years ago when Dave and I were still fishing the dam until the third week of April.  Then again two years ago at the height of the season we had 24 inches of ice.  Now that was a great year for ice fishing.  I wish every year was like that one.

Chez I was on Oaks yesterday, ice was good, fish bite was so so. About 7 or 8 inches. Beginning to vary in places though.
We are all here cause we are not all there.
