thanks chief -- i understand that concept. with that said, let me rephrase my statement. at a constant depth of 60-65 feet of water, going in a straight line -- I have hit bottom with having 10 colors out, and using a 2 3/4" spoon. traveling at a speed of 2.2 m.p.h.

Given your qualifying statement, you have me baffled? I can't explain that dilemma. As you probably know, water temps (density) & currents make a difference, but seriously doubt it would be that much.
