I have a vex and love it  a buddy has an aqua scout . I think you can cover more depth with the vex and tell what height the fish are coming through at. A aqua view you only see the fish at what height you have the cam set at atleast i think thats how the cams are. I have the vex FL-8 which works fine for me. they do have a newer model out now but i would ask more ?'s on the one to get

Coming from an owner of both an FL18 and a scout......VEX VEX VEX VEX!

The only thing that slows it down is a poorly charged battery and SUPER THICK weeds (even then it is managable).  The camera is limited by water clarity, spooky fish, and darkness.  Love my camera and it is a great asset, but would never give up my vex!

I have two Vexilars and have used my buddies camera on several occasions. If I had to choose one it would be the Vex hands down.

I also have both and love them both. If I had to give one up it would be the camera. The Vex is a gotta have and will increase your catch more than the camera. The camera is a wanna have and will add to the fun and your knowledge of fish behavior. The only way I would choose the camera over the Vex is if I was fishing with kids all the time. The camera keeps their attention for an entire weekend and really makes it fun for them. I can put two of my grandkids in a hut and they can both watch their jigs on the camera. They use the camera more and I use the Vex.

I don't have the camera, but do have a Vex and have been using various types of flasher units over the years.  However, I will buy a camera this season and plan to add this to my arsenal.  It's not going to be my main way of finding fish, but there will be times when I'll use it to figure out things that are going on down there (that I know are going on because I can see something on the Vex) and help me to either figure out something or let me know if I'm wasting my time or not.

This is a must, get the flasher first and learn to use it.  It's a tool that will help you find and locate fish.  It doesn't catch fish for you, that part is up to you.  But, they are efficient and will get you to the next level if used properly.

The camera will help you, but use it in conjunction with the Vex once you learn to use it properly.  Both can help you find and catch fish.  Again, they are tools.

Flasher first.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an  well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, A fishing pole in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming \"WOO HOO, what a ride!

vexilar!!!  its almost like having an underwater camera once you figure out what youre looking at.  (it only takes about 5 minutes, its all self explanatory)...you get any movement in your cone angle, its great. it would be fun to use an aqua view in conjuntion with a vex though.  ill never fish again without my vexilar

I got a vex last year and it's definitely helped me out with locating fish!  Definitely go with the vex first, then get the camera!  Pike4some explained it perfectly!

And I thought I had my mind made up to buy a Vex...  I did not think of this angle.  I have kids that like to go, but get bored quickly.  Maybe I can convince my wife to buy ME the Vex and buy the kids the aquaVu?

Does anyone notice much difference between the FL8 and the FL18?
