In March One Fish Is Still Enough.
We had a good week of vacation, after Mondays tough fishing, and Tuesdays cusk, we went back out on Friday to a new lake and the hope of Bows. Turns out you could not buy a bow that day. Someone got a Laker in 2' of water, but no bows. We fished for about 3 hours and then had to get back home. I had to work like all craziness to not get skunked. As the kids played big time wrestling in the snow, I managed a yellow that was about half the size of the bait I was using. As we were pulling up the lines to go Luke got the call on the big black trap and it was hooked under something. luckily the fish swam out and we were able to get it. A new PB Cusk and a daytime one to boot. Only real fish of the day.
Sunday we finally took the Stephenator out. He has been waiting for a month for this. We took the whole family up to the mighty Bellamy Res. Sloshed across 50 yards of wet slush to some high ground and proceeded to put the lines down. It wasn't long before Stephen was pulling in his first fish. Turned out to be a Gill. He was very happy and carried it around the rest of the trip. Mom an him went to the car for a nap. He managed to find an old hole to walk in before he got off the ice making it a trifecta for the kids this week. Each one managed a post hole and a PB fish. We lost a good flag in the shallows, got another gill for Luke and Em jigged up a small crappie, and it was time to go. Next up Salmon season.
New PW (Personal Worst) I think the worm is longer, Released safely.
PB and first day time cusk.
