i am still trying to figure it out why people are putting those snow ski's on a pole and straping them to a perfectly good sled? are they pulling by hand or machine? if by hand i have had better luck with my large soroc sports sled. i am planing to put two coolers in it one for gear the other for fish and they double as a seat. then i strap the shappell s3000 with wrachet straps to it. and i am done auger fit in between the coolers folded up. bait and every thing else is in the sled. measure it it will fit. also is it less resistance or some thing? last i looked mine does not have that much resistance cause i hand pull it just the soroc and the shanty. use to pull one of those old minute men with a ply-wood floor but bought a newer shanty. the darn thing weight 120 pounds for a 3 man brief case and would dig in. now that i do it my way it work but with that old ply-wood one i can see why you want to use the ski's btw soroc are a lot liek jet sleds i will have to get a pic up later of it
The narrower skis you can get away with the better. The amount of snow that you have to pack down is the issue. Pulling your clam or jet sled is like pulling a snow shovel. Think grandpa's cutter, the one horse sleigh. They had narrow metal runners because they pull easier that way. The carriage part was raised up high so it would ride over the snow.
