Fished Island Park this morning at Lakeside Lodge...... Oh SO HAPPY to report that all the fish in Island Park are well fed and not interested in anything that an angler wants to bring to the table. Believe me, I tried every bait in the box and color trying to get something, but they were just not interested. I got into a giant school of little ones, I'm talking 3-4 inchers that wouldn't leave me alone, I could get them to follow my jig all the way up to the hole, pretty interesting to watch. I kept hoping that some larger fish would come through and spook them all off, but it wasn't to be. My first skunk of the year, oh well.
18 or so inches of snow on about 12 inches of slush on about 18 inches of ice. If you step off a snowmobile track good luck, you'll wish you would have brought waders. I stayed on a track and it was manageable. As soon as I drilled holes, the water started coming up through, that snow on the ice is pretty heavy. Anyway, looking to go out again Saturday, possibly back up there to prove I can indeed catch a fish there, or maybe to Palisades, haven't decided.
