????? Ive fished nyona for the past 35 or so years, i guess if everyone thinks its fished out than more for the rest of us ,simply hard tobelieve a 100 arce lake can b fished out i bet their r alot more fish their than any of us could imagine.

Without going thru what I posted, I am almost sure I never said Nyona was fished out. All I said was the catch harvest on hard water has droped from what it was 6+ yrs ago.

You last 2 guys that posted, are you taking summer fishing? My hole thread was about hard water fishing and how catch numbers have went down.

do you think otter tastes like chicken????   Just kidding!!  Man, we need some ice.  Come on cold weather.
I just came from Nyona and in front of the bait shop, right out where everyone fishes were 4 otters, they were going in and out holes drilled in the ice, coming up and walking around on the ice, then going back down another hole >:(

Otters right, not beaver or muskrats?

If Otters, I was told 2 yrs ago by a land owner that someone had killed off all the Otters the DNR released. Either they didn't get them all or the DNR planted more. I hate to say it, but if they released more I imagine their fate will end up the same.

Definitely otters, the guy at the bait shop lives there and said he sees as many as 6 at a time, I saw them several times this summer

If they just recently released more. Then thats sad, I was told the last time they released Otters, they didn't last, some unhappy fisherman didn't like it and they disappeared.

Dang, wouldn't that be disturbing to be setting in you shanty relaxing, bored from no bite, and drinking coffee. And up out of your hole comes a Otter or 2, tangling your lines causeing havic. I guess the lake owner I talked to 2yrs ago was wrong. He said the DNR officer said someone killed off all the Otters.

Or, hook onto a biggin, reel it in, and find a Otter on the other end of your line. I'm sorry to say this. But if Otters aren't native to Nyona lake, then why the H did the DNR release them there? Sometimes I wonder about those guys and some of the things they do.

I live up around rochester, and for the last 3 years, we have otters come and go from our pond.  Last fall there were 11 in there at one time.  Most of the time it is 3-6 of them when they come.  I'm not sure how far they travel, but I see them in the ditches around a 5 mile radius.  Have any of you long time nyona fisherman used an under water camera?  I've been fishing nyona for 15+ years on a regular basis, ice fishing only, and I can tell you there are fish down there.  I hardly ever sit by the bait shop, maybe once or twice a year.  2 years ago, the last time we had good ice, the 3 spots on the lake I fish the most, i saw a bunch of fish with the camera.  The closer to the weeds I get, the more fish there are, but they are mostly dinksl.  If you can find a dropoff or some structure close to a weed line in the 10-15 foot mark, the fish get bigger but can be hard to catch.  Most of the time, changing colors, or bait will help.  I hardly ever get fish to grab the bait if I am moving it much, they usually come up and if I start to jig it, they will back off and swim away.   It seems that 80 percent of the time they are biting very light.  I get a lot of fish that will pull the bait in and spit it out with no movement on the rod.  I've got a bunch of fish by looking at the camera monitor but never feeling anything.
